Rosa DeLauro, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, has taken to social media to express her concerns and commemorate significant historical events. On June 5, 2025, she shared her thoughts on various pressing issues.
On June 5, DeLauro addressed a food safety concern with a brief tweet stating, “Omg not more tainted beef”. This tweet was accompanied by two links that presumably provide further details about the issue at hand.
The following day, June 6, DeLauro reflected on a pivotal moment in history. She commemorated the D-Day anniversary with the statement: “81 years ago, British, Canadian, and American soldiers valiantly stormed the beaches of Normandy, beginning the liberation of Europe. Today, we honor the courage of those who fought and gave their lives on D-Day. We must defend the freedoms they won.” Her words serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made during World War II.
Later that same day, DeLauro shifted focus to domestic policy by addressing gun violence in America. She tweeted: “Entire communities have been forever changed by gun violence. Every day, 125 people are shot and killed in America. Congress must pass commonsense gun legislation, like an assault weapons ban and Ethan’s Law, so Americans can live free from gun violence.” This highlights her advocacy for legislative measures aimed at reducing gun-related incidents in the United States.
Rosa DeLauro was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and has lived there throughout her life. She graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1964.
