Rosa DeLauro, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district, has voiced her concerns over several issues via social media. On May 15, 2025, she addressed topics ranging from budget cuts to child health programs and legal issues facing government officials.
In her first tweet of the day, DeLauro criticized the Trump administration’s budget proposal. She stated, “You don’t fight inflation by cutting job training. You don’t help workers by gutting labor protections.” This message was shared at 13:59 UTC as she urged people to join her and other Democratic members of the Appropriations Committee in opposing what she termed an “anti-working class budget.”
Later that afternoon, at 16:40 UTC, DeLauro expressed strong disapproval regarding reductions in programs aimed at preventing child lead poisoning. She tweeted, “I believe that stealing from programs that prevent child lead poisoning is disgusting.” She further questioned the suitability of those who support such measures for public service roles.
Her third tweet of the day came at 17:36 UTC when DeLauro remarked on legal challenges faced by a government official. She wrote, “Imagine doing so many illegal things you can’t answer any questions because you’re being sued for all of them.” In this statement, she referred to the Secretary of Labor without specifying particular allegations.
Rosa DeLauro has been serving in Congress since 1991 after replacing Bruce Morrison. Born in New Haven in 1943 and currently residing there, she holds a Bachelor’s degree from Marymount College.
