On May 5, 2025, DeLauro highlighted the significance of the Head Start program in a tweet. She stated that “Since 1965, Head Start has helped millions of families by providing high-quality early childhood education.” The program is praised for its role in supporting child development and learning during crucial early years.
The following day, on May 6, 2025, DeLauro expressed her support for union members who have chosen to strike. In her tweet, she wrote: “I stand with the hardworking members of IAM Locals 1746 & 700 who have voted to strike.” She emphasized the critical role these skilled workers play in Connecticut’s industries and expressed hope for a fair agreement reflecting their value.
Later that day, DeLauro addressed economic issues under President Trump’s administration. Rosa DeLauro was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and graduated from Marymount College with a BA in 1964. At age 80, she continues to reside in New Haven while serving her constituents.
