Rosa DeLauro, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, recently shared several updates on social media. Her posts covered a range of topics from local weather advisories to national policy issues.
On June 21, DeLauro alerted her constituents about an impending heatwave in Connecticut. She advised residents to take precautions by visiting cooling centers and provided resources for finding these locations. “There will be extreme heat in Connecticut over the next week You can visit https://t.co/94Lhe12sQk to find a cooling center near you, or call 2-1-1 to find out where you can get out of the heat.”
Later that day, she highlighted #ASKDay, urging parents to inquire about gun safety before their children visit other homes. She advocated for safe storage laws and mentioned Ethan’s Law while expressing gratitude towards Kristin Song for her activism following personal tragedy. “On #ASKDay, we encourage every parent to ask one simple question before their child visits another home: Is there an unlocked gun in your house?”
In a subsequent post on June 22, DeLauro criticized President Trump’s military actions against Iran without Congressional approval, citing it as unconstitutional. She emphasized that the power to declare war resides with Congress according to the Constitution. “President Trump’s decision to launch direct military action against Iran without Congressional approval is a violation of the Constitution.”
Rosa DeLauro was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown with a BA in 1964.
