Senior defender Emmy Pascal has been named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, according to a March 23 announcement from the league. Pascal, who is captain of the No. 8 Yale women’s lacrosse team, earned this recognition after recording six ground balls and five caused turnovers last week.

The award highlights Pascal’s leadership on a defense that currently ranks first in the nation in scoring defense, allowing an average of only 5.89 goals per game. She contributed to holding No. 5 Syracuse to just six goals and played a key role in Yale’s recent 10-8 victory over Brown.

Pascal is tied for the Ivy League lead in caused turnovers per game with an average of 2.22 and is also tied for sixth in ground balls per game at 2.11. She has appeared on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for two consecutive seasons and was selected as a preseason All-America by both ILWomen and USA Lacrosse.

Last season, Pascal received honorable mention USA Lacrosse All-America honors, was named first team IWLCA All-Northeast Region, second team All-Ivy League, and made the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.

Yale currently holds an overall record of eight wins and one loss (2-0 Ivy League) and will face No. 19 Princeton on Saturday at noon.
