Former West Haven High School standout Gianni Gambardella took the mound for the Maine Black Bears on Friday, March 6, at 12 p.m. in their NCAA Division I baseball game, which ended in a 12-5 defeat to the Dayton Flyers.

The teams faced each other at Woerner Field for the first time this season.

Gambardella pitched three innings, allowing seven earned runs with one walk and two strikeouts.

The Black Bears are set to play their next game against the Dayton Flyers at Woerner Field on Saturday, March 7, at 12 p.m.
