The Quinnipiac softball team earned its 18th victory of the season by defeating Fordham 6-3 in a non-conference game on Apr. 11.

This win is notable as Jasmine Kline recorded her first collegiate pitching victory, contributing to the team’s positive momentum this season.

Quinnipiac started strong with two runs in the first inning, helped by singles from Mary Fogg, Sofia Vega, and Kennedy DeMott. Ally Hochstadter and Natalia Apatiga each drove in a run to give the Bobcats an early lead. Fordham responded with runs over several innings, briefly taking a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning after an RBI double.

The Bobcats rallied in the fifth inning with four runs. Apatiga tied the game with her second hit and RBI of the day before Aryn Bombery was hit by a pitch to bring home another run. Kinsley Cox added a two-run single for insurance. Although Fordham scored again in later innings, Quinnipiac held on for the win thanks to back-to-back groundouts that ended any comeback attempt.

Several players contributed multiple hits during the game: five different Bobcats had multi-hit performances. Vega extended her hitting streak to six games and has recorded hits in 15 of her last 17 games, including nine multi-hit outings. Fogg registered at least one hit for the 24th time this season out of her 31 appearances.

Kline pitched for three and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out one batter to secure her first career win as she moved to a record of one win and one loss this year.

Looking ahead, Quinnipiac will host Marist for alumni day at home on Saturday, Apr. 18 and Sunday, Apr. 19.
