Head coach Erin Appleman has named Laurece Abraham as captain of the Yale Bulldogs women’s volleyball team for the 2026 season. Abraham, a rising senior, was selected to lead the squad following her strong performance in the most recent season.
“I’m very excited to have Laurece leading us. She’s going to do a great job for her teammates and for Yale Volleyball,” said Appleman.
During the past season, Abraham played in all 24 games for Yale and started in 23 of them. She appeared in 91 sets, recording 248 kills, which ranked second on the team. Her hitting percentage of .397 was the highest among Bulldogs players and placed her third in the Ivy League overall. The team finished with a 10-4 conference record and reached its fourth consecutive Ivy League Tournament championship game, ultimately losing to Princeton in five sets. Abraham earned All-Ivy First Team honors for her efforts, marking her second career All-Ivy selection and first time on the first team.
Abraham expressed appreciation for her new role: “I’m really grateful for the trust the coaches and my teammates have placed in me, and I’m excited to step into a role where I can continue to lead. I can’t wait to get back in the gym with everyone, put in the work together, and help us grow as a team.”
