The Sacred Heart University women’s golf team received its second consecutive weekly honor from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on April 1, as first-year player Maegan Pungsuwan was named MAAC Rookie of the Week following her performance at the Women’s Intercollegiate at Prospect Bay.

This recognition highlights Pungsuwan’s contribution to her team and marks back-to-back rookie awards for the program. Such achievements underscore both individual talent and overall team strength in a competitive conference environment.

Pungsuwan tied for eighth place at the event, leading all Sacred Heart players. She posted rounds of 78 (+6) and 76 (+4), finishing with a total score of 154 (+10). Her efforts helped guide Sacred Heart to a third-place finish out of twelve teams, placing ahead of three other Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference programs in attendance.

The team’s next appearance will be at the Rutgers Invitational on Saturday, April 11. This tournament serves as their final competition before entering the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship later in April.

The continued success of first-year athletes like Pungsuwan signals strong prospects for Sacred Heart women’s golf as they prepare for postseason play.
