Sacred Heart divers Ryleigh Mahoney and Sinclair Yadao competed on March 9 in the opening day of the NCAA Diving Zone Championships in Ocala, Florida.
The event is significant as it brings together top divers from across the region to vie for advancement in national collegiate competition. Mahoney participated in the women’s 1-meter preliminary round, finishing 74th overall with a score of 184.95. Yadao followed closely behind, placing 75th with a score of 183.35 among a field of 86 divers.
Both athletes are set to continue their participation on Tuesday during the 3-meter competition. According to event scheduling, Yadao will compete in Preliminary A at 10:30 a.m., while Mahoney is slated for Preliminary B at 2:45 p.m.
The NCAA Diving Zone Championships serve as an important opportunity for collegiate divers to showcase their skills and potentially qualify for further national events. The performance of Mahoney and Yadao reflects Sacred Heart’s ongoing involvement at this competitive level.
Looking ahead, both Pioneers aim to improve their standings as they return to the boards for the next phase of competition.
