Quinnipiac finishes seventh at Rutgers Invitational in women’s golf

The Quinnipiac Bobcats finished in seventh place out of 16 teams at the Rutgers Invitational, recording a total score of 322 (+38) in the final round on April 12. Marisa Flores and Vaidehi Shah led the team, both tying for 15th place with a three-round total of 232 (+19).

This performance places Quinnipiac among the top half of competitors at the event, highlighting consistent efforts from several team members over three rounds.

Samantha Galantini posted the best single round for Quinnipiac on the final day with a score of 77 (+6), finishing third on her team with an overall total of 239 (+26). Natalie Spiska completed her tournament two strokes behind Galantini after carding an 84 (+13) in her last round for a total score of 241 (+28). Sandhya Vaikuntam ended her fourth tournament this year with an overall score of 248 (+35), following an 87 (+16) final round.

Flores’s strongest performance came during the first round when she shot a team-best opening score of 73 (+2). Shah recorded her best effort in round two with a score of 76 (+5). Spiska also delivered her lowest round—a score of 74 (+3)—in the second session. Vaikuntam’s top result was a first-day final-round effort at +8.

The Bobcats will compete again tomorrow, April 13, sending six golfers to participate in the Fairfield Tri-Match at H. Smith Richardson Golf Course.
