Quinnipiac University’s men’s lacrosse team defeated No. 20 Sacred Heart with a score of 16-14 on April 4 at Campus Field in Fairfield, Connecticut.
The win marks Quinnipiac’s first victory over a ranked opponent since the team beat No. 13 Brown in February 2023. The Bobcats are now 2-3 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play and hold an overall record of 3-8, while Sacred Heart drops to a record of 10-1 and is now 4-1 in conference games.
Nate Watson led Quinnipiac’s offense with four goals and one assist, while Cole Marsala contributed three goals and two assists. Evan Miner made thirteen saves for the Bobcats, including five stops during the final quarter. “Cole Marsala scored twice in the fourth quarter to help clinch the victory,” according to game details released by the university.
The match saw Sacred Heart take an early lead before Quinnipiac responded with consecutive goals from Duncan Zielke, AJ Amandolare, and Thomas Andria. After falling behind by six points during the first half, Quinnipiac closed the gap before halftime and then outscored Sacred Heart ten to five over the second half—winning the third quarter seven to two.
Watson has now reached thirty goals for this season across eleven games, leading his team in scoring. Marsala has posted eight games with at least four points this year. Miner has recorded eighty saves over his last six appearances.
