Quinnipiac University announced on April 10 that its men’s lacrosse team will face Mount St. Mary’s at QU Lacrosse Stadium in Hamden, with the game scheduled for Saturday, April 11 at 2:30 p.m.
The event is significant as it marks Senior Day for the Bobcats, with twelve student-athletes set to be honored before the match. The group includes Justin Robbert, Will Cronin, Luke Hendricks, Jaxon Gill, Ethan McGerald, Evan Miner, Ryan Downing, Max Pauwels, Luca Cutolo, Tommy Andruzzi, Chase Young and Thomas Andria.
Quinnipiac enters the contest with a record of three wins and eight losses overall (2-3 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play), while Mount St. Mary’s holds a similar overall record of three wins and eight losses (2-4 MAAC). The Bobcats have recently secured notable weekly awards: junior Nate Watson was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week after their season-opening win at UMass Lowell on February 9; senior goalie Evan Miner received Defensive Player of the Week honors following a victory over nationally-ranked Sacred Heart on April 6.
Statistically this season, Quinnipiac leads its conference and ranks second nationally in man-up offense efficiency at 61.1 percent. The team also tops the league in caused turnovers per game (9.64), ranking thirteenth nationwide in that category.
In recent games leading up to Saturday’s matchup, Quinnipiac defeated No. 20 Sacred Heart with a strong second-half performance but fell narrowly to Marist by one goal and posted wins against Merrimack earlier this spring. Head Coach Mason Poli continues into his twelfth year on staff and seventh as head coach for Quinnipiac.
Looking ahead to Saturday’s game against Mount St. Mary’s—who most recently won against Canisius—the Bobcats aim to continue their recent success against “The Mount,” having won each of their last two meetings.
