Quinnipiac men’s tennis secures 4-3 win over Mount St. Mary’s

The Quinnipiac men’s tennis team earned a narrow 4-3 victory against Mount St. Mary’s on Apr. 11, clinched by Alessandro Sciacca in singles play.

This win marks back-to-back Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) victories for the Bobcats. The match took place in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and saw strong performances from several Quinnipiac players.

In doubles action, the pairs of Carlos Braun Simo and Alessandro Sciacca as well as Csanad Nyaradi and Vishal Prakash won their matches to secure the doubles point for Quinnipiac. Nyaradi and Prakash have now claimed four doubles wins in their last five matches, while Braun Simo and Sciacca have won three of their last four.

During singles competition, Braun Simo defeated Pournaropoulous with scores of 6-3, 6-3; Prakash overcame Gaonkar with a scoreline of 6-2, 6-4; and Sciacca clinched the overall victory by defeating Makris 6-2, 6-4. Other singles results included losses for Elias Hoxha against Roy (4-6, 2-6), Finn Burridge against Wagner (2-6, 1-6), and Csanad Nyaradi against Guarino (4-6, 5-7).

With these results, Braun Simo improved his singles record to eight wins and four losses this season. Prakash has now won four out of his last five singles matches while Sciacca picked up his sixth singles win of the season.
