The Quinnipiac softball team lost both games of a doubleheader against Fairfield on April 7 in Hamden, Connecticut.

The games were part of a midweek matchup. The first game saw Fairfield take an early lead in the third inning with four runs scored on a sacrifice fly and consecutive hits. Quinnipiac responded in the sixth inning when Sofia Vega hit an RBI single, her sixteenth of the season. The Bobcats added another run in the seventh but could not overcome Fairfield’s lead, ending with a final score of 5-2 in favor of Fairfield.

In the second game, after two scoreless innings, Kennedy DeMott put Quinnipiac ahead with an RBI single in the third. Ally Hochstadter followed with another RBI single before a throwing error by Fairfield allowed another run to score, giving Quinnipiac a 4-0 advantage. However, Fairfield narrowed the gap with two runs in the fourth and then scored four more times in the fifth to secure a 6-4 win and complete their sweep.

Sofia Vega has recorded hits in fourteen out of her last sixteen games and is currently on a five-game hitting streak. Riley Potter led the team with nine doubles after hitting two more during game two. Noelle Reid achieved her fifth double this season while Mary Fogg has had at least one hit in twenty-three out of thirty games played so far.

Looking ahead, Quinnipiac will travel to face Fordham for non-conference matchups scheduled for Saturday, April 11 at noon and again at 2:00 p.m.
