The Quinnipiac softball team lost its first home game of the season, falling to Manhattan 5-1 on Saturday afternoon, April 4.

This result marks a setback for the Bobcats as they continue their spring campaign. The loss follows a strong start at home and highlights key moments where the team was unable to capitalize offensively.

After three scoreless innings, Manhattan took control with a two-run single and added another run following a Quinnipiac error. The Bobcats responded in the fifth inning when Aryn Bombery’s sacrifice fly brought Ally Hochstadter home, narrowing the deficit to two runs. However, Manhattan extended its lead in the sixth with a two-run home run and maintained that advantage for the remainder of the game.

Shannon Kendall pitched her tenth complete game of the season for Quinnipiac, allowing four earned runs on nine hits while striking out two batters. She finished the weekend with a record of 1-1 and now holds an overall record of 12-7 this year. Offensive highlights included Sofia Vega continuing her consistent performance at bat—she has now recorded hits in 12 of her last 14 games—and Mary Fogg extending her hit streak to four games. Vega, Fogg, and Hochstadter accounted for all four Bobcat hits during this contest; Hochstadter also registered her third double of the season while Bombery tallied her eighteenth RBI.

Looking ahead, Quinnipiac will play a midweek doubleheader at Fairfield on Tuesday before traveling to Fordham for non-conference matchups next Saturday. Fans can follow updates through social media or by visiting www.gobobcats.com.
