The Quinnipiac softball team will travel to the Bronx for a non-conference matchup against Fordham, with first pitch scheduled for April 11 at noon.

This meeting marks the first time the two programs have faced each other since 2010. Fordham enters the weekend holding a 16-20 overall record. The Rams are led by Neleh Nogay, who has a .368 batting average, and Sadira Forcucci, who leads in home runs and runs batted in. Olivia Simcoe has pitched eight complete games for Fordham this season.

Quinnipiac recently dropped a doubleheader to Fairfield but remains strong in conference play with a 13-6 record. Kennedy DeMott was named MAAC Player of the Week after hitting .500 over two games and catching three runners attempting to steal. Sofia Vega has also been consistent at the plate, recording hits in most recent games and leading several offensive categories for her team.

Senior outfielder Mary Fogg was named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team after leading Quinnipiac last season in batting average and hits. Head coach Hillary Smith announced that seniors Natalia Apatiga, Kennedy DeMott, and Sofia Vega will serve as captains this year.

The Bobcats welcome six new players to their roster while returning sixteen from last year’s squad. Madison Waltke earned MAAC All-Rookie Team honors last season, while Riley Potter contributed with ten doubles during conference play.

Smith enters her eighth season as head coach of Quinnipiac’s program. She is joined by assistant coach Xen Penny and alum Hannah Davis on staff this year.
