The Quinnipiac women’s golf team finished the first round of the St. John’s Invitational in third place out of 12 teams on April 6, shooting a combined score of 323 (+39) at Saint Andrew’s Golf Course in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.

This tournament performance is significant as it places Quinnipiac within striking distance of the leaders, trailing by only six strokes behind Fairfield Stags (+33). The team’s position after day one sets up an opportunity for a strong finish when play concludes on April 7 with tee times starting at 9:30 AM.

Sophia Fujita led the Bobcats, tying for second place individually with a score of 77 (+6) in the opening round. Marisa Flores and Natalie Spiska (competing as an individual) both shot an 80 (+9), ending day one tied for ninth place. First-year Michelle Wong and redshirt first-year Tekla Fine-Lease each carded an 83 (+12), putting them among five players tied for twenty-seventh position. Alexia Egdahl completed Quinnipiac’s lineup with an opening-round score of 88 (+17).

Five Bobcats—Fujita, Flores, Spiska, Wong, and Fine-Lease—will enter day two ranked among the top thirty players overall. Team results show that Quinnipiac remains competitive heading into the final round.

The event will conclude tomorrow morning as Quinnipiac aims to improve its standing during Tuesday’s final round.
