The Quinnipiac women’s golf team will participate in the St. John’s Women’s Invitational at Saint Andrew’s Golf Club in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, beginning April 6. The two-day tournament will feature 12 teams and include 18 holes each day.

The event is part of the team’s spring schedule as they prepare for the upcoming Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships. Participating teams include Bryant, Fairfield, Hofstra, Holy Cross, LIU, Merrimack, Mount St. Mary’s, Providence, Quinnipiac, Siena, St. John’s and Wagner.

Quinnipiac’s lineup for the invitational consists of Sophia Fujita, Marisa Flores, Alexia Egdahl, Michelle Wong and Tekla Fine-Lease. Natalie Spiska will compete as an individual entry. The first round begins with a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m., followed by the second round starting at 9:30 a.m.

In their previous outing at the Georgia State Invitational on March 30-31, Quinnipiac finished fifth out of fourteen teams with a total score of 896 (+32). Sophia Fujita was the top finisher for Quinnipiac with a three-round total of 219 (+3), tying for seventh place overall.

During their fall season campaign last year, Quinnipiac competed in five tournaments and secured first place at both the Lehigh Invitational and their own Quinnipiac Classic. At Lehigh Invitational, Fujita claimed individual honors with a score of 204 (-9). The team also won its second consecutive MAAC Tournament title in spring 2025 by finishing thirteen strokes ahead of UAlbany; Fujita set a new single-round record with her opening round score.

Looking ahead this spring season before heading to Lake Buena Vista for the conference championships later this month in Florida—described as “the Happiest Place on Turf”—the Bobcats are scheduled to compete at several events including Space Coast Classic (Feb. 21-22), Low Country Intercollegiate (Mar. 9-10), Georgia State Invitational (Mar. 30-31), Rutgers Invitational (Apr.11-12) and finally MAAC Championships.
