The Quinnipiac women’s lacrosse team defeated Iona on April 1, scoring nine consecutive goals in the first quarter and finishing with an 18-5 victory in New Rochelle.

This win marks Quinnipiac’s second straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory. The team was led by Cate Bendowski and Mia Delmond, who each scored three goals in the opening quarter. Bendowski finished the game with a collegiate-best seven points, including five goals and two assists. Delmond added four goals to her tally.

Quinnipiac extended its lead throughout the first half, entering halftime ahead 14-3 and initiating a running clock in the second quarter. The Bobcats maintained at least a ten-goal advantage for the remainder of the game, with Graham Straface and Hannah West also contributing late goals.

Bendowski now has 53 points this season, placing her among the top twenty point scorers in program history. Delmond’s career total stands at 128 goals—the third-most ever for Quinnipiac—and she is eighth on the team’s all-time points leaderboard with 158 points. The team’s offensive output against Iona was its highest since scoring nineteen against Canisius last April.

Megan Felker recorded her second multi-point game of her career and her first of this season. This victory ended a two-game losing streak to Iona for Quinnipiac, marking their first win over the Gaels since 2023.

Looking ahead, Quinnipiac will conclude its two-game road trip against Merrimack on Saturday in North Andover at noon. The match will be available live on ESPN+.
