The Quinnipiac women’s lacrosse team lost a close game to Merrimack, 15-14, on April 4 in North Andover, Massachusetts. Despite leading early and strong offensive performances from several players, the Bobcats were unable to tie the game in the final minutes.
This result matters for Quinnipiac as it reflects both their ability to compete closely with opponents and highlights individual achievements during the season.
Cate Bendowski led Quinnipiac with seven points, matching her collegiate best and reaching 60 points for the season. She became only the ninth Bobcat to reach this milestone. Peyton Choma scored a hat trick—her fourth of the season—and set a new career high with six points. Julia Givens contributed five points for a second consecutive Saturday. Goalkeeper Shannon Alden recorded 11 saves, marking her fifth double-digit save performance this year.
The Bobcats began strongly with an early lead but saw Merrimack rally before halftime. After regaining a two-goal advantage in the third quarter, Quinnipiac was overtaken by a five-goal run from Merrimack that ultimately decided the outcome.
Quinnipiac registered a season-high twelve assists in this contest, including five from Bendowski—the most by any Bobcat so far this year.
Looking ahead, Quinnipiac will return home for two games: they host Rider on Wednesday at 2 p.m., followed by Fairfield on April 11 at 11 a.m. Both matches will be available live on GoBobcats.com.
