The Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team has secured an automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey Tournament, marking its fifth appearance in the event. The NCAA announced the tournament field on Sunday morning.

Quinnipiac, ranked No. 7/8 nationally, will play Franklin Pierce on Thursday, March 12 at 7 p.m. CT in Madison, Wisconsin. The winner of that game will advance to face host Wisconsin on Saturday, March 14 at 1 p.m. CT.

The Bobcats earned their spot by winning the ECAC championship on Saturday, March 7, their second title in program history and first since the 2015-16 season under head coach Cassandra Turner.

“This marks the second NCAA Tournament appearance for Quinnipiac in the past three seasons. In 2022-23, the Bobcats defeated Penn State 3-2 in triple overtime before falling to Ohio State 5-2.”

Wisconsin holds an all-time record of eight wins, one loss and one tie against Quinnipiac. If both teams meet this year, it would be their first postseason matchup. Their last meeting was during the 2021-22 season at LaBahn Arena where Quinnipiac recorded a win and a tie.

Quinnipiac’s upcoming game against Franklin Pierce will be the programs’ first-ever meeting. Franklin Pierce enters as NEWHA champions after defeating Saint Anselm 2-0.

The winners from these rounds will move forward to compete in the NCAA Women’s Frozen Four scheduled for March 20 and March 22 at Pegula Arena in University Park, Pennsylvania.
