Rosa DeLauro, a long-serving U.S. Congress member representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, recently addressed several key issues via social media posts on June 5, 2025.
In her first post of the day, DeLauro emphasized the importance of adhering to constitutional principles. She stated “You can’t just pick and choose when the Constitution applies.” The statement was directed at Mr. Vought with an assertion that “Congress makes law. Courts uphold it. Stay in your lane, Mr. Vought.”
Later, DeLauro turned her attention to economic matters, specifically addressing potential changes proposed by President Trump regarding the Department of Commerce. In a subsequent post, she highlighted “The Department of Commerce is critical to the strength of American jobs, our communities, our economy and competitiveness.” She noted opposition from Appropriations Democrats against any attempts to diminish the agency’s role.
Lastly, DeLauro focused on healthcare funding for tribal nations through the Indian Health Service (IHS). She underlined its significance by stating “Funding for the Indian Health Service is critical to providing health care & disease prevention services & upholding treaty responsibilities to tribal nations.” She invited followers to watch discussions with Appropriations Democrats regarding federal investments in IHS.
Rosa DeLauro has been a significant political figure since succeeding Bruce Morrison in 1991. Born in New Haven in 1943 and educated at Marymount College in Tarrytown with a BA earned in 1964, she continues to reside in her hometown.
