Rosa DeLauro, U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, used her social media platform on July 21, 2025, to address recent developments regarding government transparency and healthcare funding.
On July 21, DeLauro posted about a court decision concerning federal budget transparency: “The court just ruled what we’ve known all along: The Office of Management and Budget is required to restore the website detailing how it is spending YOUR taxpayer dollars. Here’s what they tried to get away with https://t.co/ZHUVcPV5b7” (July 21, 2025).
Later that day, she spoke at the Grimes Center about proposed legislation affecting Medicaid. In her tweet, DeLauro stated: “This morning, I spoke at the Grimes Center about how the Big Ugly Bill will impact seniors’ healthcare. Medicaid covers 74% of all CT nursing home residents. The bill slashes Medicaid funding by nearly $1 TRILLION. Americans deserve better. https://t.co/rRgVKysDFx” (July 21, 2025).
DeLauro also criticized recent Republican policy proposals in another post: “The latest round of Republican cuts lets greedy corporations cheat on their taxes, poison consumers, & continue to scam everyday Americans out of their hard-earned money. Watch me fight back with @AppropsDems: https://t.co/3Qkn3HHoLl” (July 21, 2025).
DeLauro has represented Connecticut’s 3rd District since replacing Bruce Morrison in Congress in 1991 and currently resides in New Haven, where she was born in 1943. She graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown with a BA in 1964.
