Rosa DeLauro, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, has used her social media platform to address issues ranging from homelessness prevention funding in Connecticut to economic impacts of federal tariffs.
On December 15, 2025, DeLauro criticized actions by former President Trump concerning federal homelessness programs. She wrote, “Trump has taken a hatchet to our largest homelessness prevention program, potentially eliminating as much as $98.2 million for CT. I was proud to stand with advocates & @GovNedLamont to announce state resources & I’ll continue to fight against attacks on Continuum of Care.”
The following day, December 16, she provided an update related to public infrastructure in Waterbury: “Please check here for updates on the Waterbury water main break.”
Later that same day, DeLauro addressed economic policy and manufacturing jobs in another post: “The facts are clear. Trump’s tariffs aren’t creating jobs—they’re tanking the economy and shrinking manufacturing.”
DeLauro was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and continues to reside there at age 80. She graduated from Marymount College, Tarrytown with a BA in 1964. Her career in Congress began when she succeeded Bruce Morrison in representing Connecticut’s 3rd District.
