Rosa DeLauro, currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, shared her views on recent developments through a series of tweets. DeLauro, who has been a vocal advocate for various policy issues, addressed concerns ranging from staffing reductions at the Department of Energy to budget discussions and agricultural support.
On May 7, 2025, DeLauro criticized recent actions by the Department of Energy. She stated “Massive staff reductions @ENERGY, funding freezes, and reneging on promises made to American families do not create efficiency.” She further argued that these measures could lead to confusion and jeopardize national security while posing economic risks.
Later that day, she announced “As @AppropsDems begin work on the 2026 Army budget, join us as we hear from Army Sec. Daniel Driscoll on how Congress can support our troops—and the defense industry back home in Connecticut:” This tweet highlights her involvement in budget discussions related to military funding and support for local defense industries.
DeLauro also addressed challenges faced by New England farmers due to high costs and extreme weather conditions. She mentioned “New England farmers are being hit hard by high costs & extreme weather wiping out entire farms.” In response, she initiated a $220 million Farm Recovery and Support Block Grant aimed at aiding recovery efforts. She expressed gratitude towards Secretary Rollins for committing to action within the month.
Rosa DeLauro was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943. She graduated from Marymount College with a BA in 1964 and has dedicated her career to public service since replacing Bruce Morrison in Congress.
