Rosa DeLauro, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, recently addressed several national issues through her social media posts on July 15, 2025. Her comments focused on energy prices, national security concerns regarding China and Russia, and child labor in tobacco farming.

In a post dated July 15, 2025 at 14:11 UTC, DeLauro stated: “Americans are bracing for price hikes at the pump & on their utility bills — all while oil companies profit & Republicans dismantle the protections that keep our air & water clean.” She encouraged viewers to watch Democrats’ response to these developments.

Later that day, at 15:18 UTC, DeLauro commented on foreign policy and national security: “We won’t make America more powerful or prosperous by letting China & Russia take the lead. Republicans’ WEAK national security plan undermines our influence & our capabilities– while leaving our adversaries emboldened & unchecked.” She invited followers to watch her efforts to counter these policies.

At 17:44 UTC on July 15, DeLauro highlighted child labor concerns in U.S. agriculture: “In the United States, you must be 21 to buy cigarettes. So why is it that 12-year-olds can work on tobacco farms? @SenatorDurbin and I introduced a bill to make this illegal. Our kids deserve a childhood free from hard labor and the dangers of nicotine poisoning.”

DeLauro has served as Connecticut’s representative in Congress since replacing Bruce Morrison in 1991. Born in New Haven in 1943 and currently residing there, she graduated from Marymount College, Tarrytown with a BA in 1964.
