Later that evening at 21:48 UTC, she referenced an immigration enforcement action in her district, writing, “My statement on the Hamden ICE raid today.”

At 22:01 UTC, DeLauro addressed healthcare concerns at a Connecticut hospital during an ongoing government shutdown. She wrote, “Backus Hospital in Connecticut, where Heather Brauth serves as a nurse, is facing the devastating impacts of Republicans’ cuts to healthcare. Day 15 into the Republican shutdown, & @HouseDemocrats are in DC fighting to lower costs, cancel the cuts, & save healthcare.”

DeLauro has been an active member of Congress for over three decades and resides in New Haven, Connecticut. She was born in New Haven in 1943 and earned her undergraduate degree from Marymount College in Tarrytown in 1964. Her recent tweets come amid a government shutdown that has lasted more than two weeks and ongoing debates about federal funding for healthcare services.
