Rosa DeLauro, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, recently addressed economic concerns in a series of posts on social media. DeLauro, who has served in Congress for over three decades and resides in New Haven, commented on rising inflation, the cost of living, and the impact of recent federal policies.
On July 15, 2025, DeLauro wrote that “Life is more expensive today than it was yesterday. Inflation is up. Household goods, appliances, and gasoline all saw some of the highest increases. So, what’s going on? (1/6)”.
In another post from the same date, she stated that “President Trump inherited a growing economy. He promised to lower the cost of living. He could have done it by going after corporate price gougers, investing in new technologies, or supporting workers bargaining for higher wages. Instead, he launched us into chaos. (2/6)”.
DeLauro further criticized former President Trump’s trade policies in her July 15 post: “President Trump instigated a global trade war with our allies, changing the plan almost daily, and gifting Wall Street billionaires with constant opportunities to profit from inside information and connections to his administration, which is leakier than a sieve. (3/6)”.
Rosa DeLauro has represented Connecticut’s 3rd District since succeeding Bruce Morrison in 1991. She was born in New Haven in 1943 and graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown with a BA in 1964.
