Rosa DeLauro, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, recently used her social media platform to address several pressing issues affecting her constituents and the nation.
On April 10, 2026, DeLauro commented on the recent spike in inflation rates, stating, “Inflation hit the highest point in nearly two years driven almost entirely by a price shock at the pump thanks to Trump’s war in Iran. Working families are already living paycheck to paycheck. They can’t afford a government that creates higher prices.”
Later that day, she highlighted her visit to New Haven Job Corps following efforts to prevent its closure. In her words from April 10, 2026: “New Haven Job Corps is open! After fighting against threats of closure by President Trump, I visited them to catch up with students & staff. I heard directly from students that the program is a lifeline for them – providing them with hope & a good-paying career after”.
On April 12, 2026, DeLauro addressed an incident involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and a Connecticut high school student. She wrote: “ICE has targeted & detained a CT high school student, who entered legally & has no criminal record. His father, Zia, was an interpreter for U.S. troops in Afghanistan. This is a clear display of ICE’s outrageous, misguided priorities & why I’m fighting for total reform.”
DeLauro was born in New Haven in 1943 and continues to reside there today. She graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1964.
