Rosa DeLauro, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, has recently voiced her concerns on social media regarding healthcare and fiscal policies. Her posts address issues related to Medicaid and fiscal plans she attributes to former President Trump’s administration.
On June 3, 2025, DeLauro highlighted the importance of Medicaid for her constituents, stating that “Over 200,000 constituents in my district are covered by Medicaid.” She expressed concern over Republican efforts to undermine Medicaid, urging vigilance and resistance against such actions.
The following day, on June 4, she emphasized the broader impact of Medicaid across the United States. In her post, she noted that “One third of Americans get their healthcare from Medicaid—40% of children, people with disabilities, low wage workers, & seniors.” She criticized those attempting to cut funding for Medicaid as prioritizing billionaire donors over vulnerable populations.
Later that day, DeLauro addressed what she described as an illegal financial strategy led by Russ Vought under former President Trump’s administration. She stated that “Russ Vought is the architect of Project 2025 – President Trump’s illegal plan to steal money from our communities.” DeLauro called for public awareness and action against these initiatives which she believes threaten programs supporting hardworking families.
Rosa DeLauro was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and continues to reside there. She graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1964.
