Rosa DeLauro, U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, posted a series of statements on December 17, 2025, addressing issues ranging from the national nursing shortage to concerns over baby formula safety.
In a post made at 19:50 UTC, DeLauro stated, “America is facing a nursing shortage of over 195,000 unfilled positions. Instead of supporting future nurses, Trump is making their education less affordable & accessible by limiting the federal assistance they are eligible for.”
Earlier that day at 15:40 UTC, DeLauro shared two links without additional commentary: “https://t.co/9IkCsZxbW4 https://t.co/P99cHXsHEO”.
Later in the evening at 21:57 UTC, she addressed recent actions by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), writing, “The @FDA has sent warnings to several companies that kept baby formula on their shelves AFTER ByHeart products were recalled due to the ongoing infant botulism outbreak. I am committed to getting to the bottom of what went wrong at these stores.”
DeLauro’s remarks come amid heightened attention to healthcare workforce shortages and food safety oversight in the United States. The FDA’s warnings follow recalls related to an infant botulism outbreak connected with certain baby formula products.
Rosa DeLauro was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and continues to reside there. She graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown with a BA in 1964. Since succeeding Bruce Morrison in Congress more than three decades ago, she has been an active voice on public health and consumer protection issues.
