Rosa DeLauro, a longstanding member of U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd District since 1991, has taken to social media to share her views on various topics. Currently living in New Haven, where she was born in 1943, DeLauro has been a committed public servant since succeeding Bruce Morrison in her congressional role.
In a tweet from April 21, 2025, DeLauro expressed strong opinions about Pete Hegseth, pointing to “honest reporting and his own incompetence” as critical issues. She further stated, “He must be fired before he destroys the Pentagon from the inside.”
Later that day, DeLauro sent out a message wishing everyone a “peaceful and reflective Easter” while highlighting the importance of hope, renewal, and new beginnings during uncertain times. This message was posted at 18:30:57 UTC.
In another statement, made at 19:41:04 UTC on the same day, DeLauro highlighted the significance of programs such as the Green Jobs Corps. In her tweet, she quoted Kris Lebron Romero, a junior at Common Ground, who said the work was “more than just a job.” Emphasizing the consequences of funding cuts, DeLauro argued that such actions “hurt real people—especially with the rising cost of living,” stressing the necessity to support programs that benefit youth and communities.
Rosa DeLauro graduated from Marymount College, Tarrytown in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts.
