Rosa DeLauro, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, recently shared her views on several pressing issues via social media. DeLauro has been an advocate for public education and family welfare throughout her career.
On May 21, 2025, DeLauro expressed concern over the state of American public schools. She stated, “Almost all American children attend public schools. Republicans are working to end it and leave our kids behind.” She emphasized the importance of education in empowering the American Dream and committed to ensuring that Congress protects children’s futures.
Later that day, she addressed economic challenges faced by working families. In her post at 17:46 UTC, she remarked, “Working families struggle to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads.” She criticized Republican efforts to reduce funding for public education in favor of tax cuts for billionaires.
In another tweet posted at 18:07 UTC on the same day, DeLauro commented on foreign policy under former President Trump. She warned that if Trump’s policies prevailed, “America will abandon our allies, strengthen our enemies, and surrender our influence.” She invited followers to join her and fellow Democrats in a hearing on the State Department budget.
Rosa DeLauro was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and graduated from Marymount College with a BA in 1964. At age 80, she continues to reside in New Haven while actively serving her constituents.
