Rosa DeLauro, U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, addressed a range of issues on her social media account on April 7, 2026.
In her first post of the day, DeLauro commented on the University of Connecticut men’s basketball team’s recent season and their appearance in the championship game. She wrote, “.@UConnMBB gave everything they had this season. Huskies, hold your heads high — you brought Connecticut to the championship game. And you will again. “ (April 7, 2026).
Later that afternoon, DeLauro voiced strong criticism of then-President Trump’s actions regarding an ongoing conflict. In her post she stated, “This is madness. This war is illegal and now Trump threatens war crimes and the eradication of an entire country if he doesn’t get his way. Congress must assert itself and rein in this president.” (April 7, 2026).
DeLauro concluded her series of posts by highlighting her advocacy for children and affordable childcare in Connecticut: “There is no issue that’s closer to my heart than kids. I am glad to join Friends Center for Children and ConnCORP in the fight for accessible & affordable childcare. Addressing this crisis is a priority for all of us.” (April 7, 2026).
DeLauro has been a longstanding representative from New Haven, Connecticut—her birthplace—and continues to reside there at age 80. She succeeded Bruce Morrison in Congress in 1991 after graduating from Marymount College in Tarrytown with a BA in 1964.
