Rosa DeLauro, who has represented Connecticut’s 3rd District in the U.S. Congress since 1991, recently addressed several pressing issues in a series of posts on social media. The topics ranged from international incidents involving U.S. citizens to domestic concerns about food safety and healthcare access.
On July 15, 2025, DeLauro condemned the killing of Sayfollah Musallet in the West Bank and called for a formal investigation by U.S. authorities. She stated: “I condemn the killing of Sayfollah Musallet in the West Bank and urge the State Dept & FBI to investigate this targeted killing of a U.S. citizen. I’ll keep pushing for a ceasefire to enable aid, free all hostages, & move formal talks to end the war.”
Later that evening, DeLauro commented on food safety regulations in another post dated July 15, 2025. She referenced her efforts regarding synthetic dyes in food products: “I pushed President Biden to ban Red 3 in food, but this overdue action was only the beginning. The FDA must address all unsafe & unregulated synthetic dyes in our food supply. We can’t value the profits of corporations over the health of Americans.”
In a subsequent post on July 16, 2025, DeLauro highlighted ongoing challenges facing healthcare access and affordability in the United States. She announced an upcoming live discussion: ” Healthcare is under attack. I’m going LIVE tomorrow to discuss the growing threats to healthcare access and affordability—and what we must do to fight back. Tune in, July 16th at 5:30 p.m. and join the conversation! We need your voice.”
DeLauro has served as Connecticut’s representative since succeeding Bruce Morrison in 1991 and is known for her advocacy on public health and consumer protection issues. Born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943, she continues to reside there and holds a BA from Marymount College.
