Rosa DeLauro, U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, addressed several key issues in a series of posts on her social media account between October 10 and October 11, 2025.
On October 10, DeLauro criticized Republican lawmakers for their absence from Washington during an ongoing government shutdown and health care crisis. She stated, “Republicans are still absent. They must return to Washington and work with Democrats to end the health care crisis they created and reopen government. Lower Costs. Cancel the cuts. Save health care.”
Later that day, she posted about international affairs, specifically referencing developments in the Middle East: “My full statement on the Israel-Hamas Ceasefire Agreement.” The post linked to her official statement regarding the ceasefire agreement.
On October 11, DeLauro highlighted concerns over proposed Medicaid cuts after meeting with healthcare providers in Connecticut. She wrote, “I met with providers in CT who are worried about what Medicaid cuts will mean for the patients they serve as the need for care rises. I’ll continue fighting to ensure that families can continue to receive necessary care and I hope my Republican colleagues join me.”
DeLauro has been active in public service since replacing Bruce Morrison in Congress in 1991 and is known for her advocacy on healthcare issues. Born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943, she continues to reside there at age 80 and holds a BA from Marymount College, Tarrytown.
