Rosa DeLauro, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, recently shared several posts on social media addressing personal resolve, pay equity for Black women, and criticism of ongoing trade negotiations under former President Donald Trump.
On July 10, 2025, DeLauro posted a brief statement expressing determination: “I gotta do what I gotta do.”
Later that day, she marked Black Women’s Equal Pay Day with a call to legislative action. In her post dated July 10, 2025, DeLauro stated: “Today is Black Women’s Equal Pay Day—a reminder that Black women are still fighting for economic equality. It’s time to act! Congress must pass the Paycheck Fairness Act, which is an essential step forward in ensuring that we close the wage gap once and for all.”
On July 11, 2025, DeLauro commented on shifting deadlines and outcomes in trade negotiations attributed to former President Trump. She wrote: “90 deals by July 9″ “90 negotiations by July 9.” Now it’s “90 negotiations by August 1.” Trump’s trade chaos is STILL on. No deals. No clarity. Just higher costs for American families.”
DeLauro was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and continues to reside there at age 80. She succeeded Bruce Morrison as representative of Connecticut’s 3rd District in the U.S. Congress and graduated from Marymount College, Tarrytown in 1964 with a BA.
