Rosa DeLauro, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, has expressed her concerns on social media regarding recent budget proposals by Congressional Republicans. DeLauro, who resides in New Haven and graduated from Marymount College in 1964, is vocal about the implications of these fiscal decisions.
On July 2, 2025, DeLauro criticized Congressional Republicans for “fast-tracking a budget that guts SNAP benefits for veterans.” She questioned the gratitude shown to veterans by asking, “Is this how they thank our nation’s heroes?”
Later that day, she commented on the broader priorities reflected in the Republican budget proposal. According to DeLauro, it favors tax cuts for billionaires and large corporations at the expense of average families. She stated: “Republicans’ budget shows what they value: tax cuts for billionaires and big corporations.” She further questioned their financial strategy by asserting that they are unable to afford such cuts without impacting hardworking families.
In another post on July 2, she highlighted the potential consequences of the proposed bill on everyday living costs. She urged Republican lawmakers to reconsider their stance and vote against what she described as a detrimental policy: “Families are already stretched thin. This bill would make life even harder by driving up costs.” Her call to action was clear as she implored them to stand against this “heartless attack on working people.”
Rosa DeLauro continues to be an active voice in Congress, advocating for policies that support veterans and working families.
