Rosa DeLauro, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, has voiced strong criticism on social media regarding recent energy policy moves by House Republicans. In a series of posts on September 4, 2025, DeLauro accused Republican lawmakers of making deep cuts to clean energy funding and related programs.

On September 4, DeLauro wrote: “House Republicans are slashing clean energy funding by nearly HALF and revoking BILLIONS in funding for new infrastructure, all while raising costs for families and killing jobs. For what? To give tax breaks to the wealthiest few.”

In another post later that day, she detailed specific areas facing reductions: “GOP Energy Bill CUTS BIG from:
Energy efficiency, driving up costs
Nuclear threat prevention
Radioactive waste cleanup
Research and innovation

It doesn’t take a scientist to know—this is a recipe for disaster.”

DeLauro continued her criticism with another post stating: “Under Republicans’ restrictive energy agenda, energy efficiency programs that help CT families lower their bills and reduce pollution are cut by 42% all to pay for corporate tax cuts.

Trump will always choose his fellow billionaires before you.” (September 4, 2025).

DeLauro has represented Connecticut’s 3rd district in Congress since replacing Bruce Morrison in 1991. She was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and continues to reside there. DeLauro graduated from Marymount College, Tarrytown with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1964.

Her recent statements reflect ongoing partisan debate over federal budget priorities concerning energy policy and tax legislation.
