Rosa DeLauro, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, recently expressed her concerns on social media regarding several political issues. Her statements focused on Medicaid cuts, energy costs, and actions by former President Trump.
On May 12, 2025, DeLauro criticized Republican efforts to implement what she described as “the largest Medicaid cut in history” to fund tax breaks for billionaire donors. She stated that these actions demonstrate a priority shift from helping families to protecting wealthy interests. “Republicans are pushing the largest Medicaid cut in history to fund tax breaks for their billionaire donors.”
Later that day, DeLauro addressed energy cost concerns, highlighting Secretary Wright’s participation in a hearing where she accused him of misleading the public about rising energy bills. She emphasized the need for transparency and collaboration to lower energy costs for Americans. “We could be working together to lower energy costs, yet Secretary Wright spent hours at the hearing lying or misleading the public.”
On May 13, 2025, DeLauro turned her attention to former President Trump’s acceptance of a $400 million luxury jet from Qatar amid rising living costs for American families. She criticized this action as contradictory to Trump’s promises of advocating for working-class families. “While families struggle with skyrocketing costs, President Trump is accepting a $400 million gold-plated luxury jet from Qatar.”
DeLauro was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and continues to reside there. She graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1964.
