Rosa DeLauro, U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, has used her social media platform to criticize Republican policies and highlight issues affecting working families, public education, and environmental standards.
On July 23, 2025, DeLauro posted: “While Democrats fight to lower costs & secure our energy independence, Republicans are rushing to satisfy and protect billionaire price gougers & big polluters. They’re making life dirtier, more dangerous, & more expensive.”
The following day, she addressed education funding cuts: “The Trump administration is gutting $5.5 BILLION in promised funds from public schools across the country. Connecticut public schools will lose $43 MILLION. President Trump is eliminating public education, all so billionaires and big corporations can hoard more wealth.” This statement comes amid ongoing debates about federal support for local school systems.
Later on July 24, DeLauro drew attention to wage stagnation: “The last federal minimum wage increase was 16 years ago today. In the middle of a cost of living crisis, $7.25/hr is simply not enough for our nation’s hard-working families. My @Labor_Caucus colleagues & I are fighting to #RaiseTheWage for workers everywhere.”
DeLauro has represented Connecticut’s 3rd District since replacing Bruce Morrison in 1991 and continues to reside in New Haven, where she was born in 1943. She graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown with a BA in 1964.
