Rosa DeLauro, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, recently shared her concerns on social media regarding healthcare and energy policies. DeLauro has been vocal about issues affecting her constituents and the broader American public.
On July 2, 2025, DeLauro posted about the impact of healthcare policy changes proposed by Republicans. She emphasized that “17 million isn’t just a number— it’s parents, children, veterans, people with disabilities, and seniors.” She noted that this figure surpasses the population of New England combined and criticized Republicans for attempting to take healthcare away from these groups.
Later that day, DeLauro addressed fiscal policies in another post. She accused Republicans in Congress of seeking to increase costs and reduce healthcare services for millions while benefiting the wealthy with tax breaks. She pointed out inconsistencies in President Trump’s promises by stating: “President Trump promised to lower the cost of living… President Trump lied.”
In a subsequent tweet on July 2nd, DeLauro turned her attention to energy costs. She expressed concern over a Republican-backed bill she claims would lead to increased electric bills by halting energy projects. Her message highlighted the need for completing these projects as a means to reduce costs rather than exacerbate them: “We need to finish building these projects to lower costs, not hike up rates by cancelling them.”
Rosa DeLauro was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and continues to reside there. A graduate of Marymount College in Tarrytown with a BA earned in 1964, she succeeded Bruce Morrison as a representative for Connecticut’s 3rd district.
