Rosa DeLauro, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, recently expressed her concerns on social media regarding several pressing issues.
On June 20, 2025, DeLauro criticized Republican actions in Congress by stating “Republicans are slashing funding for life-saving research and treatments to hand out tax cuts to billionaires.” She highlighted the impact of these budget cuts on clinical trials, emphasizing that this funding is essential for those battling severe health conditions.
Later that day, she addressed the GOP Child Tax Credit (CTC) proposal. DeLauro described it as inadequate, pointing out that it “purposefully leaves out low-income families, fails to raise the value, & is not monthly.” She urged for a permanent expansion of the CTC passed by Democrats in 2021 to better support families amidst rising costs.
DeLauro also commented on a plaque honoring officers who defended the Capitol during the January 6th incident. In her post from June 20, she noted “It’s been over 2 years since Congress commissioned the plaque honoring the officers who protected the Capitol on January 6th.” DeLauro expressed pride in displaying a copy outside her office and advocated for its public placement rather than being kept away from view.
Rosa DeLauro was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and graduated from Marymount College with a BA in 1964. She continues to reside in New Haven.
