Rosa DeLauro, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, recently posted a series of tweets criticizing Republican policies and voicing concerns about public health leadership.
On September 2, 2025, DeLauro addressed the actions of former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) directors regarding Robert F. Kennedy Jr., stating: “Former @CDCgov Directors who served under Republicans & Democrats are standing up to RFK Jr. and the danger he poses to Americans’ health. He must be fired.”
Later that day, she commented on the Republican Party’s proposed spending plan for 2026: “If you’re a billionaire or big corporation, Republicans’ 2026 spending plan has you covered. But, if you’re a teacher, a sick kid, a worker, or a woman — you’re screwed. We know where Republicans’ priorities lie, and it’s never been with the American people.” This post was made on September 2.
The following morning, DeLauro continued her criticism of Republican fiscal policy by highlighting its impact on education funding: “Republicans’ 2026 education funding plan slashes $12 BILLION from K-12 schools, kicks teachers out of classrooms, and abandons kids and hardworking families already struggling with rising costs. Why? All so billionaires can skip out on their taxes.” This tweet was posted on September 3.
DeLauro has represented Connecticut’s 3rd District in Congress since replacing Bruce Morrison in 1991. She was born in New Haven in 1943 and continues to reside there at age 80. DeLauro graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1964.
