Rosa DeLauro, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, has recently voiced her concerns on social media regarding Republican legislative proposals. Her statements focus on tax reforms and healthcare cuts that she argues will adversely affect American families.

On March 18, 2025, DeLauro criticized the Republican party’s approach to tax legislation. She stated that “Republicans are not working on a tax bill that helps everyday families. Their current draft caters to the ultra-rich.” She highlighted the success of the expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) in providing economic security and reducing child poverty by half, urging Republicans to adopt this measure as a solution to high costs.

Later that day, DeLauro expressed concern over proposed Medicaid cuts by Republicans. She noted in her tweet “Republicans are pushing for the largest Medicaid cut in history, at least $880 billion cut that will eliminate healthcare for 80 million Americans.” She accused the bill of betraying American taxpayers while benefiting wealthy individuals linked to former President Trump.

DeLauro also acknowledged local efforts to address these issues. In another post from March 18, she thanked Sean Scanlon, Comptroller of Connecticut, and Suzanne Lagarde, CEO of Fair Haven Community Health Care, for their participation in discussions about Medicaid cuts. She remarked “Conversations highlighting the real impacts of these cuts strengthen our fight against them.”
