Rosa DeLauro, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, has recently used her social media platform to criticize current federal policies affecting healthcare and economic conditions. Through a series of posts in July 2025, DeLauro addressed concerns about Medicaid cuts, the closure of healthcare facilities, and rising utility costs.
On July 13, 2025, DeLauro warned about the impact of Medicaid reductions on local health services. She stated, “Closing community health centers and rural hospitals is a real consequence of Medicaid cuts. The Trump Administration is leaving our families out to dry to fund their Big Billionaire Bailout. It’s cruel and unacceptable.”
The following day, July 14, she further highlighted the effects of these policy changes on vulnerable populations. In her post she wrote, “They’re gutting Medicaid to fund their Big Billionaire Bailout. Millions who rely on Medicaid: kids, seniors, and workers with disabilities will lose access to vital healthcare. This isn’t just policy— it’s a direct attack on our most vulnerable.”
Later that same day, DeLauro addressed economic issues related to tax policy and cost-of-living increases. She commented, “Republicans’ Big Billionaire Bailout is increasing your utility bills. Instead of lowering the cost of living, President Trump is focused on more tax breaks for billionaires and the biggest corporations.”
DeLauro was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and continues to reside there at age 80. She graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown with a BA in 1964.
