Rosa DeLauro, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd District since 1991, expressed strong opinions on social media regarding issues of national security and political accountability. DeLauro replaced Bruce Morrison in Congress and has been a continuous representative since. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1943, and a graduate from Marymount College, she has a longstanding history in public service.
In a tweet dated March 27, 2025, DeLauro criticized Pete Hegseth, expressing concern over his handling of national security issues. She stated, “Pete Hegseth’s arrogance in the face of the worst national security lapse in the last decade is dangerous. He lies, dodges accountability, & sets a culture of recklessness. Leadership starts at the top. Under Hegseth, DoD would rot from within. He. Must. Go.”
Continuing her discourse, DeLauro addressed the Department of Justice (DOJ) in a tweet dated March 28, 2025. She asserted, “The DOJ should investigate this embarrassing series of failures to its root. But the root is President Trump, and @PamBondi will never exercise the independence the job demands. It’s up to Congressional Democrats to do their job for them, as usual.” This statement indicates her skepticism towards the independence and accountability within the DOJ.
Further on March 28, 2025, DeLauro continued with her criticism, pointing out, “The obfuscation of “attack plans” and “war plans” is intentional. They think you, the American people, are dumb enough to fall for it. Don’t let them distract you with BS. They messed up, and they’re trying to bury it.” Her message suggests a deliberate misdirection regarding plans related to national security.
