Rosa DeLauro, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, recently posted a series of tweets addressing economic issues and criticizing President Trump’s handling of trade deals and price increases. DeLauro, who has served in Congress for over three decades and resides in New Haven, Connecticut, commented on the impact of current policies on American consumers and businesses.
On July 15, 2025, DeLauro wrote that “President Trump could end these price increases tomorrow. But he won’t. Because he’s not in it for you. He’s in it for his billionaire allies, and his own ego. Hardworking Americans and small businesses will continue to pay the price. (6/6)”.
In another tweet from the same date, she stated that “Big corporations have options to deal with high prices. They can stockpile goods, or extend contract terms, or pass certain costs on to suppliers. The President just showered them with tax cuts. And yet, prices are still going up. This is going to get worse. (5/6)”.
DeLauro also commented on trade negotiations by noting ‘”90 trade deals in 90 days” has yielded zero final trade deals, despite multiple extensions of his own deadline. The penguins are apparently driving a hard bargain. (4/6)’.
Rosa DeLauro was born in New Haven in 1943 and graduated from Marymount College, Tarrytown in 1964 with a BA.
