Rosa DeLauro, U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, criticized a Republican funding bill in a series of social media posts on September 19, 2025, alleging it would increase health care costs and threaten coverage for Americans.
In her first post at 16:43 UTC, DeLauro stated, “Republicans’ partisan funding bill will raise health care costs. They should be ready to explain that to their constituents.”
Seven minutes later, she posted again with a link to her full statement: “My Full Statement: https://t.co/Tt47V7mQ9I”.
In another message posted at the same time, DeLauro wrote, “Republicans just voted to drive our country closer to a shutdown rather than protect the health care of the American people. Their plan rips away coverage & raises costs. The Senate must reject this partisan spending bill and stand with the American people.”
DeLauro has represented Connecticut’s 3rd District in Congress since succeeding Bruce Morrison in 1991. She was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and continues to reside there. DeLauro graduated from Marymount College, Tarrytown in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
The statements come amid ongoing debates over federal funding bills and concerns about potential government shutdowns and impacts on healthcare policy.
